About the Chincoteague Center
The Chincoteague Center is operated by the Chincoteague Recreation and Convention Center Authority of Chincoteague, Virginia. The Center was developed to provide a safe, supervised environment for organized recreational activities for all age groups and to promote commerce and increase job opportunities through economic expansion. It was built without cost to the taxpayers of Chincoteague or Accomack County and is operated on a fee basis.
The 12,500 square foot Center was completed in November of 1996. It is designed as a recreation and meeting facility with a Main Hall of 5,000 square feet, used singularly as four 750 square feet rooms, assembled in combination or opened to form an auditorium that will handle up to 800 people.
Electrical outlets and jacks for outside phone and DSL wireless internet access is available. Conduits for additional service and a cargo door are available to accommodate exhibits and show equipment. The building will handle as many as sixty-five 8' X 8' booths, or twenty-nine 8' x 8', and twenty-four 10' x 10' booths. The building is equipped with a catering kitchen and a ticket booth.
